Summary
The Dunebrook Child Advocacy Center (CAC) therapist provides specialized trauma-focused mental health services for child victims of abuse and non-offending family members. Through this position, the therapist will develop, implement, and deliver a mental health treatment plan that is aligned with the needs of child abuse victims and according to best practices. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the therapist works in partnership with the CAC staff, Law Enforcement, Department of Child Service investigators, prosecutors, and medical personnel to strengthen the collaborative approach to the prevention, intervention, investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse victims.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Direct Service
As an LCSW, LMHC, LSW, or LMHC-A licensed in the State of Indiana, provides specialized trauma-focused mental health and crisis intervention services for children and the non-offending caregiver;


Maintains up to date certificates and licensure at all times with the Professional Licensing Agency of the State of Indiana;

Contacts assigned clients for therapeutic appointments as referred;

Administers required assessment tools to children/families as necessary;

Plans and implements treatment for children and non-offending caregivers;

Completes all data entry and reports associated with service provisions;

Refers clients to other community services or secondary level of care as needed; Maintains HIPAA-compliant documentation of client cases and progress;

Reports any client-related issues or concerns to relevant partner agencies or authorities;

Abides by the Code of Ethics of the clinician’s profession.

Testifying in Court Proceedings
Prepares for and provides courtroom testimony when subpoenaed.


Supervisions and Meetings

Regularly attends and participates in multidisciplinary case reviews, CAC staff meetings and Dunebrook staff meetings;


Attends Clinical Supervisions and Consultation calls;

Participates in Supervision with CAC Director.

Insurance
Will work with Dunebrook to obtain insurance credentialing and billing through a third-party billing coordinator and keeps all credentialing current.

Continuing Education
Maintains the latest knowledge and intervention skills per NCA standards and applicable Indiana Professional Licensing standards, obtaining the required ongoing education hours.

Communication
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse clients and community partners;


Excellent written and verbal communication skills, group facilitation skills, and ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and members from partner agencies;


Highly organized to maintain client schedule and documentation.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
A minimum of an LCSW or LMHC in the State of Indiana. A minimum of two years of experience working with children in a therapeutic manner, which can include internship experience, is also required.


TF-CBT certified, preferred.


Bilingual proficiency, particularly in English/Spanish, is preferred.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
The CAC therapist must demonstrate proficiency in trauma-focused interventions for children and families and proficiency in administering and interpreting assessments to children to inform treatment planning or be willing to become credentialed. Must demonstrate continuous quality improvement through ongoing education in the field of child abuse, trauma, and/or relevant treatment interventions per NCA standards, and stay up to date on knowledge of most recent research and intervention strategies proven effective with children and families affected by abuse. Must have the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team structure and possess the ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse personalities, fostering a cohesive and supportive team environment. Must be proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take the initiative to develop and implement a vision for mental health services aligned with the needs of child abuse victims. Must be able to adapt to working irregular hours, including evenings, to accommodate the needs of families.


Must strictly adhere to all relevant HIPAA laws and regulations. Must exhibit cultural competence and sensitivity, recognizing and respecting clients’ diverse backgrounds and experiences.


Must be able to travel out of town for training or other work-related purposes.

The employee works in an office environment, viewing computer/tablet screens, perceiving and transcribing data accurately, and keyboarding. The employee should be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
