Dunebrook Announces Upcoming Leadership Transition
MICHIGAN CITY, IN — May 20, 2026 — Board President Sarah Konieczny has announced that Dunebrook is beginning a search for an Executive Director following the upcoming departure of Dr. Tammy Button, whose leadership has helped guide the organization through a period of growth and expanded community impact. Dr. Button will be leaving Dunebrook later this summer.
During her tenure, Dr. Button helped guide the organization through significant growth in programs, services, and community engagement. Among the many achievements during her leadership, she oversaw the expansion of Healthy Families home visitation services into Pulaski and Starke Counties, implemented initiatives including certified breastfeeding support, postpartum mental health services, and oral health education to improve maternal, infant, and child health, and guided the transition of Covering Kids & Families insurance navigation services to Dunebrook.
Under Dr. Button’s leadership, Dunebrook also strengthened its Public Education, Family Support Collaborative, and Child Advocacy Center programs as demand for services expanded throughout Northwest Indiana. Today, Dunebrook’s programs directly serve more than 50,000 individuals annually, while hundreds more engage with the organization through community events, outreach initiatives, and social media.
Board President Sarah Konieczny said Dr. Button’s leadership has helped position the organization for continued success.
“Since joining Dunebrook in 2022, Dr. Button’s leadership has strengthened the organization’s mission and expanded its impact throughout our communities,” Konieczny said. “Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to children and families have helped position Dunebrook for a strong future, and we are deeply grateful for her service.”
Former Board President Tom Powley reflected on Dr. Button’s contributions to the organization and community.
“Tammy brought vision, stability, and heart to Dunebrook during an important period of growth and change,” Powley said. “Her leadership helped strengthen relationships throughout the community while ensuring the organization remained focused on its mission of serving children and families.”
Dr. Button credited Dunebrook’s staff, Board of Directors, and community partners for the organization’s accomplishments during her tenure.
“Serving as Executive Director of Dunebrook has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life,” Button said. “I have had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary team of professionals, dedicated board members, and passionate community partners who show up every day for children and families.”
“Together, we have strengthened programs, expanded community partnerships, and continued to build a strong foundation for the future of Dunebrook. I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished and confident in the organization’s continued impact in the years ahead.”
Konieczny stated that the Dunebrook Board of Directors is committed to ensuring a smooth leadership transition while maintaining the organization’s strong and supportive culture.

The Board of Directors has begun the search process for Dunebrook’s next Executive Director. Dr. Button remains fully committed to supporting the organization through the leadership transition.
